Structural material

Not a setup-tree node. Embedded in the application.

  • Control: action (ToolButton2)
  • Control: value (ValueField)
  • Unit: GPa
  • Value modes: none (plain entry)

Stiffness. Steel is about 210 GPa, aluminium 70.

  • Control: value (ValueField)
  • Value modes: none (plain entry)

How much it bulges when compressed. Metals are near 0.3; 0.5 is incompressible and cannot be solved.

  • Control: value (ValueField)
  • Unit: kg/m³
  • Value modes: none (plain entry)

The in-app guidance depends on the case:

  • Modal frequencies scale with sqrt(E/ρ), so this one decides the answer.
  • Read by a modal analysis and by gravity loads; ignored by a static solve without one.
  • Control: value (ValueField)
  • Unit: MPa
  • Value modes: none (plain entry)
  • Shown when: StructuralState.analysis === "Fatigue"

The high-stress end of the S-N line, taken at the low cycle count below.

1000 is the usual convention for the ultimate-strength point of the S-N line.

The low-stress end, at the high cycle count below. Defaulted to half the ultimate, which is the usual estimate for steel — aluminium has no true endurance limit and this will be optimistic.

  • Value modes: none (plain entry)
  • Shown when: StructuralState.analysis === "Fatigue"

1e6 is the usual convention for steel’s endurance-limit point. A material with no true endurance limit needs a real number here instead — a million cycles read as infinite life for one is the optimistic case the field above already warns about.

  • Value modes: none (plain entry)
  • Shown when: StructuralState.analysis === "NonlinearStatic"

Where the material stops returning to its original shape. Mild steel is about 250 MPa. Zero means the library publishes none for this material — state it here.

How much stress still rises after yield, as a modulus rather than a stress. Usually near E/100 — 2.1 GPa for steel. It must be less than E, or the part would be stiffer after yielding.

The application reports no problems against this step.

… marks a value the application computes at run time, so the source carries no fixed text for it.
